
Henry ""Roy"" Burkholder, 96, of Baytown passed away on September 9, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. Roy was born on August 25, 1916 in Homer, LA. After graduating from high school, Roy attended Florida State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. In 1949 he married Ann Copes. The couple moved to Houston in the early 1950's and was instrumental in the building of the chemical industry in the area. Roy worked as an engineer for the Ethyl Corporation for 50 years. Mr. Burkholder never met a stranger, and was especially known by the staff at the Golden Corral, where he loved to frequently dine.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Ann. Roy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Gordon Combs of Meadows; his son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Leticia Burkholder of Clear Lake; his brother-in-law, W.H. ""Pete"" Copes of Baton Rouge, LA; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 beginning at 1:00 in the chapel of Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Whites Cemetery.
