

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George Henry and Lola Irene Badgett; daughter, Brenda Gay Kirkes, and three brothers, George Henry, Jr., Robert Earl, and Kenneth Eugene Badgett.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Kay and husband Rev. Herman Williams and Donna Marie and husband Butch Gross, both of Dayton; sons, Larry Ray and wife Tina Badgett of Dayton and Herschel Ray Badgett Jr. and wife Debbie of Baytown; brother, Roy Donnie and wife Dorothy Badgett of Dayton. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Irene Broussard Badgett; sisters-In-law, Viola Badgett, Imogene Badgett, and Ada May Badgett; grandchildren, Roland Gene Kirkes, Bryan Lee Williams, Ryan Keith Williams, Daniel Lin Williams, Nikole Raylyn Badgett New, Trent Allen Badgett, Branden Ray Badgett, Bradley Dean Badgett, Jessica Marie Gross, and Sarah Eris Gross; great-grandchildren, Emma Reneé New, Forrest Kirkes and Luke Kirkes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special Friend Dorothea Heard survives Mr. Badgett. His faithful dog, B. J. will miss their daily walks.
Mr. Badgett graduated from R. E. Lee High School. He was stationed in Korea while serving in the Army. After returning from his tour of duty, he began his career in the propane gas business in Baytown, Beaumont and Houston areas and retired in 2005.
During high school, he enjoyed riding in rodeos, and later was actively involved for many years with training and racing quarter and thoroughbred horses at tracks in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Mr. Badgett was active in several civic organizations including Woodmen of the World, Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1, Pelly, and the Shriners Cooking Team.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and Son-In-Law, Gene Kirkes. Honorary pallbearers are James Douglas, Juda Frank Stedham, Eddie V. Gray, Glenn Wilson, David Robberson, Bascum Meadows and Kenny Zwahr.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
