James Henry Bounds

James "Bull" Henry Bounds died peacefully at the Houston Methodist St. John Hospital on February 4, 2018, at the age of 98. James is survived by his daughter, Mary Watkins; his grandchildren, David Watkins, Jennifer Watkins, Trent Edwards, Evan Edwards, and Clark Edwards; and his niece and nephew, Kathy and Dennis Lucas.

James was born on December 30, 1919 in Hearne, TX, to Theophilus and Millicent Bounds. After moving to La Porte, he married Beatrice Reed, his wife of 41 years. The couple welcomed two children, Jo Ann and Mary Bounds. During his life, James was proud to serve as an active member of the United States Coast Guard; a dedicated employee of the DuPont Credit Union; and a valued member of his community. His children and grandchildren knew him to be a loving, gentle, and patient man. His former colleagues, neighbors, and friends remember his courtesy, generosity, and warmth. James Bounds lived a full life, surrounded by a community of dear friends and loved ones.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday Feb. 9th at 10 am in the Mausoleum at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX. All are welcome to attend and celebrate James' life. There will be an opportunity for anyone who knew him to speak. A small reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. James was fortunate to have many close friends and neighbors, who each contributed to making his final years so special. The family would like to thank, in particular, Ms. Kathy Lucas and Mr. Jack Briggs for their dedication to James' wellbeing and their enduring kindness.
