

James Alton Tilton, 74, of Mont Belvieu, Tx, took his angel flight on Feb. 12, 2021. He was born in Baytown, Tx on Sept. 3, 1946, to Chris and Mary Lou Tilton. James graduated from Barbers Hill High School in 1966 where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. After high school James served his time in the Army deployed to Vietnam, earning two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, an Air Medal, and three Purple Hearts. He worked for Bayer Chemical Corp. for 31 years raising young “Pups” to follow in his footsteps and be the best they could be. He could bring out the best in just about anyone he met. He was the type of man everyone respected and made an impact anywhere he went. He had a huge heart and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to hunt, fish, travel, and spend time with family and friends. He loved being outdoors and could always find something to keep him busy. He will be deeply missed by so many. James is preceded in death by his father Chris Tilton, Mother Mary Lou Tilton, and brother Robert Earl Tilton. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years Micky Tilton, Son Shannon Tilton and wife Diana, daughters Kristy Rudine and husband Rod, Karol Trahan and husband Byron, and Kathy Chain and his “other son” Wayne Bletsch Jr. and wife Jan. Grandchildren Jordan Ballard and husband Michael, and Tyler Ward. Great-grandchildren Addison and Corey. Siblings, brother Chris Tilton and wife Sandra, sister Gayla Pomykal husband Mike, sister Sherry Fruge, Judy Poutra, sister-in-law Charlotte Morris and husband Tommy, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Honorary Pallbearers Mike Pomykal, Tommy Morris, James Earl Tilton, Marshall Morris. Special people in James’ life who he loved dearly, Dino Acevado, Butch Olive, Clay Tippet, Bryce Tippet, Todd Summerall, Rodney Porter, Mike Van Natta, Wes, Jessica, Buddy, Karen, Reed and Nora Wiesman. Services will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., in Baytown, Tx. Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 5-7 pm and the funeral will be Friday, March 5, 2021, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers and donations, the family asks that you consider a donation to Prostate Cancer Foundation, Texas Parks and Wildlife, or the SPCA.
