James “Jimmie” Lee Watters passed away on January 31, 2022 at the age of 66, in his hometown of Houston, Texas. His battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Jimmie came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
In his early life he was a diesel mechanic and a professional fisherman. He also worked in the pit crews and drove within professional circuits for sprint and stock car racing. Before his back injury, he owned a welding supply business and had many contracts with local businesses, including San Jacinto College’s Welding Technology department. His strongest passion in life was fishing, and that’s exactly what he spent his later years doing.
Jimmie met the love of his life, Theresa Diane Watters, at the Arlington Square Club in Pasadena, Texas. Their story was no fairy tale but one of true love through perseverance and fate. Love brought them together, kept them together and they took care of one another through thick and thin. Fate destined them to become each other’s unanticipated best friend. Together they had a son, James Raymond Watters, whom he loved dearly.
