Jean Humphrey Haney

Jean Humphrey Haney, 87, of Baytown was born December 23, 1923 in Goose Creek and passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 in a local hospital. She was a 1940 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She worked at Humble Oil and Refining Co. for 10 years and then Humphrey Airport, now Baytown Airport, when it was owned and operated by her brother. She was a longtime hospital auxiliary volunteer, having served as president. She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grand and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Orleanor Humphrey; brother, Col. Howard M. Humphrey, U. S. Marine Corps, (Ret.); sister, Jesse Humphrey Martz, and aunt, Margaret MacKenzie. She is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, Ernest Haney of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Rhonda Haney of Pasadena; daughters and sons-in-law, Stuart and Steve Summers of Decatur, Rhonda and Rick Butcher of Pflugerville, Nancy Haney of Baytown, and Laura and Greg McClellan of Baytown; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason Hughes, Stephen and Jill Summers, Susan and Ryan Ogden, Dustin and Jennifer Haney, Sara Haney, Wesley and Emily Haney, Amanda, Herb, and Shelby Butcher, and Jenny and Julia McClellan; and great grandchildren, Caleb, Carter, and Ella Hughes, Shepherd Summers, Ellie Cate and Eden Ogden, and Denim and Hudson Haney.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Memorial Baptist church, 600 W. Sterling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520 with Dr. Brad Hoffmann officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law.
