John M. ""Po Boy Whitaker

John M. ""Po Boy"" Whitaker, 66, of Rye, TX passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in Cleveland Regional Medical Center. John was born August 2, 1942 in Baytown to Robert Elsworth and Violet Isabel Moorehead Whitaker.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Linda B. Whitaker; son, John D. Whitaker of Highlands, daughters, Yolanda Barker and husband Jon of Katy, and Elaine Milstead and husband Carl of Houston; sisters, Bobbie Lea Lusty and husband Rick of Richland Springs and Wanda Rene Callahan and husband W.M. of Watson, Ok.; brother, C.E. Butch Whitaker and wife Linda of Bronson, TX several nieces, and a nephew; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and a host of fiends.

John lived in Baytown until 1992 when he realized his dream of living in the country. He and Linda built their retirement home where he lived until his death. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a pipefitter and carpenter for the US Construction Company and a member of Local 1334 Carpenters Union.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 21, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Navarre Funeral Home with Brother Clyde Somers officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vince, Jason, Matt, and Tony West, Rodney Patterson, Timmy and Jimmy Mc Hugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Shumake, Jon Barker, Carl Milstead, and Rodney Patterson.
