He attended Robert E Lee High School in Baytown. In 1995 Jon entered into the US Navy where he was aboard the USS Kearsarge as a petty officer 3rd class.
He was assigned to duties involving deck maintenance, small boat operations, and other tasks related to seamanship and all ship upkeep matters.
The USS Kearsarge ship is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship primarily used to deploy and support a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) ashore during combat operations, humanitarian missions, and disaster relief efforts. It acts as a flexible platform for various joint maritime operations, including maritime security operations, crisis response, and forward naval presence. When Jon was discharged from the US Navy in 1998 he was a BM3.
After leaving the Navy, JP had many business ventures as he was an entrepreneur at heart. He poured his heart and soul into every business opportunity that he believed in.
JP loved his family, his children and his friends. Some of his greatest enjoyments were being in Crockett on his tractor, across the street- calling the fish saying (come on babies), as he would throw feed to them, fishing the fish, herding the sheep, swimming in the pond and throwing the ball for Mr. Ripley.
Jon loved his animals - when you saw him, you would see his dog in the back of his truck no matter where he went!!!
He enjoyed bbqing with his 4 Horsemen team, he also enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, side-by-sides, pretty much anything he thought would make it through the mud.
Jon was boisterous and never met a stranger. When he entered the room, everyone knew and if they didn't know him then, they would soon.
Jon had a motto that he believed in, "Tell the truth even when it hurts, do what you say you're going to do and be the person people can count on."
Jon was someone you could count on and if he said he was going to do something to help you out, he did. He lived by this motto and was truly happy to help others.
