

Josephine Lucille Smith, 97, of Baytown, TX passed away on August 22, 2024. She was born in Beeville, TX on October 31, 1926 to William (Bill) and Mary Holubec. She was raised in Beeville and graduated from Beeville High School Class of 1944.
Josephine moved to Barbers Hill in 1946 when she married Royce Hilton Smith. They moved from Barbers Hill to Baytown in 1961. She was a homemaker and she volunteered at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for over 30 years. Josephine was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mont Belvieu for 15 years and St. John’s United Methodist Church for 63 years. She was President of the UMW (United Methodist Women) for 20 years. Josephine loved and enjoyed cooking, jig saw puzzles, word search puzzles, reading books, fishing, and she loved flowers.
She loved her family and friends. She was a woman of kind and gentle ways. Always ready to help anyone at any time that needed it.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 74 ½ years, Royce Hilton Smith; parents, William (Bill) and Mary Holubec; son, James Allen Smith; sister, Elizabeth McFall; and brother, Jerry Holubec.
She is survived her daughter, Gloria (Dennis) Enloe; three step-granddaughters, Robin (Russell) Waller, Rosalyn (Ricky) Smith, Brandy (Joe) Wiggins; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Holubec, Larry Holubec, Garry Holubec; sister, Willie Mae Wheeler, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral service will be held at 10 am, Friday, August 30, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown, TX. Serving as pallbearers: Dennis Enloe, Mike O’Sullivan, Allen Roberts, Charlie Bitterly, Terry Englert, and Zeke Novosad.
