

Maggie Breedlove Horn passed away on April 17, 2025 in Baytown, Texas at the age of 102. She was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Jessie and Ollie Breedlove. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
After 73 years of marriage, Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, J.O. Horn. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Lynda and Bill Kilgore of Baytown, Texas, and Nita and Neal Askew of Wimberley, Texas, and one son Jamey Horn and his spouse Stephanie of Baytown, Texas.
Also surviving are three grandchildren and their spouses: Billy and Julie Kilgore of Baytown; Lana and Ryan Rush of Katy, Texas; Alan and Amy Askew of Wimberley, Texas. She had 8 great grandchildren: Ryley, Reagan, and Lily Rush; Presley Kilgore and Margo Kilgore Pyle and her spouse Paul; Austin Askew and his spouse Sarah, and their son Louis of Hawaii; Aiden Askew and his spouse Mollie of San Antonio, Texas; Ashlyn Askew of Wimberley, Texas.
Maggie knew from an early age that she wanted to be a teacher. Her love for learning was so strong, she graduated from high school at the age of 15 and from college at the age of 19. She taught school for 35 years, the last 25 of them with Barbers Hill ISD. She was once nominated as Texas Teacher of the Year,.
Maggie Horn was a charter member of Kappa Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and also active in several English Professional organizations.
