He leaves behind a legacy built on love, laughter, and hard work. He was born June 2, 1926, to Hijinio Pequeño Pedraza and Josefa Ramirez Pequeño.
Throughout his life, Manuel was committed to his work and his family. He worked as a butcher for Wright Packing Co. for 25 years, a trade he took pride in. He later spent 10 years with Brown and Root Construction before finishing his career with the Maintenance Department at Lee College. Manuel worked tirelessly to provide for his family and instilled in them the importance of hard work and perseverance.
He was known for having the best sense of humor and a gift for storytelling. Whether he was sharing a memory, a joke, or a life lesson, Manuel had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, cooking his famous chicharrones, and never turned down a good game of cards or dominos. He also sang in the men's church choir for a time.
Manuel is survived by his wife Dora Pequeño, his children: Manuel Pequeño Jr. (Janie), Maria Gutierrez (Fermin), Carolina Gutierrez (Everardo), Mario Pequeño, Juanita Rodriguez (Richard Cabrera), Raul Pequeño, and Elvia Carlisle (Darla). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, joyful spirit, and deep devotion to those he loved. His stories, his laughter, and his love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
