Martin Estrada Yepez, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, uncle, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2025, at the age of 80. Born and raised in Baytown, Texas, Martin was a lifelong resident who touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ascension Yepez and Victoria Estrada Yepez, and siblings, Juan Yepez, Celedonia Yepez Razo, Julia Yepez Campos, Jose Ascencion Yepez, Pedro Yepez, Gregorio Yepez, and Maria Yepez Perez.
Martin shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Ofelia Santana Yepez. Their relationship was extraordinary—they were inseparable, shared countless adventurers, and were truly best friends. Their love story was the foundation of a family that meant everything to him.
He was the proud father of three children: Laura Yepez Reyes and her husband Paul, and their daughter Lindsey; David Yepez and his wife Lena, and their daughters Savannah, Chloe, and Cora; and Marla Gonzalez her boyfriend Eddie Brown, and her children Isabelle Gonzalez, husband Genaro and baby Alicia, Jessica Gonzalez, and Nicholas Gonzalez and his girlfriend Selah Hermosillo and their baby Levi. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished. Martin is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly and were blessed by his humor, kindness, and his genuine love.
Martin was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and attended Lee College. He served his country honorably in the National Guard in the 36th Division, and built a long, successful career at DuPont before retiring. Retirement didn’t slow him down—he continued giving back as a substitute teacher in Goose Creek CISD, where he was beloved by students and staff alike.
He had a passion for reading, watching TV, especially classic westerns, and he never missed a chance to make you laugh. He loved music and he loved to sing. He also loved to cook and showed his love through the meals he prepared for friends and family—gathering loved ones around the table brought him immense joy. A natural jokester and a genuine soul, Martin had a heart that drew people in—he never met a stranger, and his relationships were deep and lasting. He taught by example: to work hard, love deeply, have fun, and always put family first.
Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and sincerity. He lived his life with purpose and generosity, always striving to give his family more than he had growing up. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to know and love him.
