Mary Sue, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May 1, 1940. She attended schools in Corpus Christi and graduated from W.B. Ray High School. Following her public school days, she graduated from Del Mar College, where she met the love of her life, Corky. She then attended The University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later earned a Master’s degree while at the University of Texas.
After beginning her teaching career as a professor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she married Corky and they began their married lives in Baytown, Texas, where she joined the faculty of Lee College. At Lee College, she taught Literature, and was instrumental in the inception of the American Studies Program. Several years later she returned to school and graduated from the South Texas College of Law. After practicing law for over a decade, she retired and returned to her first career love - teaching and Lee College.
At the time of her passing, Mary Sue lived in Spring, Texas, where she moved to be closer to her children; however, she and Corky made their home in Baytown for over 40 years. Her love of antiquing and antique jewelry was unrivaled; one of her favorite hobbies was helping someone find the hard to find. Mary Sue was a thoughtful gift giver and a gracious hostess. The thing she enjoyed most in life was spending time with Corky. She will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her.
