On the morning of Sunday, December 25, 2022, Our Heavenly Father gave our Mom, Nana, Sister and Aunt her angel wings and guided her to her Heavenly home.
Mary Merci Hernandez was born in San Miguel, Tamaulipas to Candelario Hernandez and Rosalinda Martinez de Hernandez. At the age of 2, her parents made the decision to come to the states to make a better life and located in Baytown. Her parents only spoke Spanish, and when she started school English was a language she had to learn. She learned English at Mrs. Bauer’s Private School. Mary then attended St. Joseph’s School and was a 1972 Robert E. Lee High School graduate.
Mary enjoyed working for the community. She was a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Port of Houston Board (Sylvia Garcia), and Director of the Baytown Municipal Development District. Mary was also a CCE educator for the First Communion & Confirmation students for 30 years.
Mary had a gift of art. She could sit and paint anything, and all her paintings had a meaning. Reading was another love of hers. Her favorite spot was on the shoreline at the beach, nose deep in a book and her toes in the sand. It was always fun to watch her enjoy life. She was either singing or dancing to any song, no matter what it was or who was watching.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Candelario and Rosalinda Hernandez, and son, Robert Alen Hernandez. She is survived by her daughter Megan Ashley Rodriguez, and her husband, David, grandchildren Scarlett and Jaxon, sister Maria Sanchez, and husband Roy, brothers Ole & Robert Hernandez.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved so much: Marc, Jaime, CandeLisa, Cynthia, Bianca, Yvette, Adrian and Alyssa, along with many great nieces and nephews.
Under the direction of: Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown.
Visitation for immediate family will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 02 January 2023.
Public viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Rosary at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on 03 January 2023 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church 800 S. Main St., Highlands, TX 77562.
