Myrtis Jeanette Hobbs was born on September 9, 1939 in Magee, Mississippi, near an area called Sullivan’s Hollow, to Velma Bishop and Preston Sullivan. She was the youngest of six children. Our Mother lived in Baytown, Texas most of her life. She was married to Charles Hugh Hobbs for 38 years. She loved the Lord, Jesus Christ very much and was a longtime member of the Lakewood Church of Christ. Her faith was the strength that got her through each day.
Mom loved her children with all of her heart. She was a strong, courageous and amazing woman. She had the best sense of humor and enjoyed helping people. If she was your friend, you felt the love and warmth from her by just visiting with her at her home. Jeanette served as president of The Eastern Star as well as VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Baytown for many years.
Our mother was much, much more than this.
We know she is with Jesus and she is at peace. Remember what she said, “I’ll meet you at the river!”
