

Pauline (Polly) Knowlton Lawhon, 97, of Baytown went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 15, 2018. Polly was born April 19, 1921 in Palmer, Texas. She was the youngest of Joseph Josiah and Verner Newsome Knowlton’s twelve children, and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Victor Lawhon and son-in-law John Fox.
Polly is survived by her son Jerry Lawhon and wife Kay of Georgetown, daughter Robbie Fox of Houston, and son Ron Lawhon and wife Laura of Houston. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Blake Lawhon, Nicole Kreiling, Ashley Lawhon, Kyle Fox, Casey Fox, Julie Leonard, Cody Fox, Jay Lawhon, and Ryan Lawhon. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Polly will be missed by all who knew her.
Her education included graduating from Palmer High School, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, a Master’s degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft Worth, Texas, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Houston. After college she was employed by Central Baptist Church as its educational director and later by GCCISD where she taught for 23 years. Much of her life was spent in serving her church in ministries and in her community as a hospital volunteer.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19th with a Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77522. Interment will follow in Cedar Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Central Baptist Church, 1800 King St., Baytown, Texas 77520.
