Peggy McClendon Burchett

Peggy McClendon Burchett, 66, long time resident of Baytown, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 22, 2008. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Peggy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved watching her son James play Little League and her daughter Jana play volleyball. She spent as much time as possible being “Granny” and watching her grandchildren play various sports. She was their greatest fan in the crowd. Her hobbies included cake decorating and creating many beautiful crocheted blankets. She was proud to raise money for the Relay for Life. Peggy was affiliated with Alliance Bible Church in Baytown.

Peggy was born November 29, 1941 in Waco to John Howard and Mary Calli King McClendon, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, James Burchett and wife Shannon of The Woodlands; daughter, Jana LaPoint and husband Darren of Crosby; brother, Jerry H. McClendon and wife Phyllis of Port Lavaca; sister Barbara Gibson of Baytown, granddaughters, Brittany and Mallory LaPoint of Crosby; grandsons, Chase and Spencer Burchett of The Woodlands. She is also survived by nephews, Michael McClendon, Roger McClendon, Steve Gibson, Scott and Mark Rogers, and Johnny and Steve Wright; nieces, Dee Jagt and Lynda Wheeler; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Friday January 25, 2008 at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will 10:00 A.M Saturday January 26, 2008 in the Navarre Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
