

He was a lifelong educator as a Texas History teacher at Baytown Junior and a photography/yearbook teacher at Ross S. Sterling High School. Outside the classroom, he was the Skipper of the Sea Scout Ship 208. He taught the scouts construction, fiberglass, cooking, knot tying, how to live on the water, and leadership skills. By doing so, he inspired many young adults and helped them grow into hardworking individuals in today’s society.
He is preceded by his parents, his sister, Sarah Cushman, his brother, George Cushman, his brother-in-law, Timothy Dubose, his nephews, Christopher and Sean Dubose, and his grand-nephew, Jimmy Polarek.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Cushman, his daughters, Savannah and Madeleine Cushman, his sister, Judith Cushman Dubose, his brothers-in-law, David Swain and John Lowrance, and father-in-law, Colonel Jerry Lowrance, a U.S. Army Veteran.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521, with rosary to be held at 7 pm. Peter’s funeral will be held on February 8th at the Navarre Funeral Home at 10 am. His family is encouraging guests to wear Hawaiian shirts to his funeral, visitation, and wake to honor his love for a paradise lifestyle. Committal will follow at Sterling White Cemetery, in Highlands, Texas.
