Ray Winfred Baxley

Ray was born to Hoyt Stanley Baxley and Emily Wren Ray Baxley on January 6, 1957, in Marion, SC. He graduated from Bonds Wilson High School in 1975. He married Mary Elizabeth Miller Baxley in 1998, and they lived together in Moncks Corner, SC, before moving to Texas in 2016. Together they raised 2 children, Michele Lynne and Melynda Leigh LaBrosse.

He is survived by his spouse, parents, brother Robert, sister-in-law Gretchen, nephews Michael and Bryan Baxley, great nephew Jason Baxley, of Moyock, NC. He also leaves to cherish his memory, sisters and brothers in law and 4 nephews, 4 great nephews and 5 great nieces in LA and PA. Aunt Linda Dennis, husband Judy and special cousin, Lynn Dennis of Hemingway, SC and cousins Carrol and Candy Capps of Marion, SC.

He was preceded in death by a niece, Laura Baxley of Chesapeake, VA.

Ray worked as an electrician for the Department of Transportation and Charleston Southern University in SC; Rescar and Sheldon ISD in Texas. He enjoyed sports, NASCAR and golf.

The family requests that donations be made to any animal shelter in memory of Ray’s love for animals. The family would also like to thank the Doctor and Staff at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital for their care and kindness. Also, to St. James House for being his around the clock guardians.
