Ronnie travelled extensively throughout the United States as a child with his parents, as his daddy worked in the construction industry. He attended and graduated from Galena Park High School, Class of 1966. Like most young people in that area, he spent much of his leisure time skating at Cook’s Roller Rink, where he met the love of his life, Martha Johnson. They were married March 28, 1969.
Ronnie followed his father in the construction business and retired in 2014 from S&B Engineers and Constructors after 34 years of service. He was a member of Highlands First Assembly of God, and a Lifetime Member of the Sampson Masonic Lodge #231.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland & Winnie Zumwalt; sister Wanda Zumwalt, and mother-in-law Mildred Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife Martha Zumwalt and son Hector Albert Zumwalt; sister-in-law Mary Holland and husband Allen; brothers-in-law Doyle Johnson and wife Ann; Michael Johnson and wife Susan; JD Johnson and Charlie Johnson; nieces and nephews Angie, Bobby, Amy, Lisa Danny and Michelle; special friends Johnny Baack, Allan Franz & Don Gooch; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Services have been entrusted to Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Interment to follow at Huffman Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Homer Martin, John McNeil, Mike Haywood, Earl Carpenter, Danny Johnson and Billy Hamblen. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Holland and Johnny Baack.
A special Thank You to the nurses in the STICU at Hermann Memorial for making it possible for Ronnie & Martha to celebrate their 49th Wedding Anniversary with cake before God called Ronnie home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston or the American Diabetes Association.
