Rosetta was born February 16, 1963 in Baytown, Texas to Norma Mowry and by God's divine providence, was adopted and raised with deep love by her parents James and Rose Morgan. Rosetta attended Lee High School where she met her best friend Kathleen. By God’s grace this friendship would introduce Rosetta to the boy who would become the love of her life for over 35 years, David Mourer.
Always dedicated to family, Rosetta unconditionally loved her husband and three girls, for whom she moved heaven and earth. Later in life she was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren. There was not much this Nana would not do for those grandbabies.
Rosetta enjoyed a lively and lifelong dedication to her faith and church families at Calvary Baptist Church and more recently Creekmont Baptist Church. Anywhere from VBS, AWANAS to church plays and cooking, she delighted in giving her time and treasure to her church family. In addition to her commitment to her church she was also a member of The Ladies of Harley Charitable Organization, cherished her time with her Bunco group and loved her Astros. Rosetta enjoyed making memories while traveling locally and afar with her husband and family to places such as The Yucatan in Mexico, Niagara Falls in Canada, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, visiting her granddaughter in California, and most recently a trip of a lifetime to visit several countries in Eastern Europe with her daughter and son in law.
Rosetta was well known for her amazing artistic talent through her many and varied hobbies and crafts. Sewing halloween and church costumes, making soap with her honey for farmers markets, scrapbooking and card making, making t-shirts and tumblers, or candies and cooking; if there was a hobby out there, chances are Rosetta had tried and excelled at it.
Rosetta’s long time career at Lee College began in 1999 as a part time payroll clerk and later grew into a rewarding 25 year career including her role as a payroll manager. During this time she achieved her associates degree in accounting. Also during this time she worked a few seasons as a tax preparation specialist after which she branched out and helped many people with their taxes from home, some for over 20 years, offering her time and service for whatever people were able to pay.
Rosetta's generous and charitable spirit did not end there. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it be preparing a meal, donating hundreds of dollars of ribbon to a random little girl on facebook or helping friends and family get back on their feet, she enjoyed sharing blessings with others.
While Rosetta’s time on earth here has been shorter than her loved ones would have hoped, she has many beloved friends and family awaiting her at Heaven’s gate including her parents James and Rose Morgan, brother James Morgan Jr., and two grandbabies born in heaven, with the most eager to embrace her again being the man who was her lifelong love and Husband of over 35 years, David Mourer. As she enters into paradise she will continue to watch over her loved ones as they go through life including daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Joseph Prewitt of Baytown, TX, Melissa and Sacha Winkler of Corpus Christi, TX, Abbey Mourer of Baytown, TX, grandchildren, Tyler Jackson, Jordan Jackson and Hunter Prewitt all of Baytown, TX. She also leaves behind a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am at Navarre on Tuesday, December 30th with graveside services to follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery at 3010 Ferry Road in Baytown with Brothers Daniel Mendoza and Daniel Moore officiating. A flashlight is a humble instrument. Often nothing more than a bulb, a battery, and a plastic casing with a button. Yet this unassuming object gives us the power to venture into darkness and discover the path ahead in times and places where it would not otherwise be possible. Rosetta loved Jesus with all her heart and carried this heartfelt prayer: that everyone, especially young people, would understand that Jesus is like a flashlight. When you place your trust in Him, you carry a light into dark places throughout life. When the way forward seems impossible to see, He can illuminate your steps."Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." — John 8:12
