

Roy Hoskins, 51, of Baytown was born January 8, 1964, in Baytown and passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015, in a Houston hospital. He was a 1982 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and was a member of Wooster Baptist Church. Roy was 7 years old when he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and though told he would soon lose the ability to walk and even then would not live past the age of 16, he proved himself to be more formidable than his illness. At age 36, he was the first Muscular Dystrophy patient to receive a heart transplant but ultimately succumbed to cancer. He was good with his hands and had a talent for woodworking, even having built the sanctuary podium at Wooster Baptist Church, among other projects.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Hoskins. He is survived by his father, Bill Hoskins, sister, Linda Hoskins, and brothers Robert Hoskins and wife Pam and Jerry Hoskins and wife Irene, all of Baytown; nieces and nephews, Greg Boudreaux, Marie Buchan and husband Kyle, SSgt Charles Houston Hoskins, U. S. Army and wife Lindsey, Victoria Josey and husband Shane, Paris Hoskins, Kelli Hoskins, and Benjamin Hoskins and wife Britni; great nieces and great nephews, Ryan Boudreaux, Kade Buchan, Drake Buchan, Hunter Hoskins, Haylie Hoskins, soon to be born baby girl Hoskins, Brody Josey, Kaitlyn Turner, Preston Turner, Alexis Gautreaux, Carter Hoskins, and soon to be born baby boy Hoskins; his sweet dog Wendy; and many friends and neighbors.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Wooster Baptist Church, 7007 Bayway Dr., Baytown, TX 77520, with Rev. Jason Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Boudreaux, Kyle Buchan, Benjamin Hoskins, Cary Ranne, Jayme Lawrence, and Chris Lemburg. Honorary pallbearers will be SSgt Charles Houston Hoskins, U. S. Army and Ernest Mitchell.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to Wooster Baptist Church.
