Sherwood Jett

Sherwood Jett, 67, of Dayton was born August 19, 1946, in Houston and passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, in a Baytown healthcare facility. He was a retired City of Houston Police Officer with 31 years of service and was a member of the Houston Police Officers Retired Association. He was a U. S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father, John ""J. B."" Jett; mother, Delia Jett; brother, Pierce Bruce Jett; and son, Michael Shawn Jett. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette Jett of Dayton; son, Patrick Michael Jett of Dayton; daughters, Dawn Jett and husband, Jacob Seebode of Augusta, GA and Darlene Jett Straub and husband, Chris Straub of Dallas; grandchildren, Ellis, Asher, Amber, and Renea Edgar, Gunner Jett, and Corbin and Conner Seebode; and great grandson, Clifton Edgar.

His family will begin receiving friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Gene Leblanc. A funeral mass will be Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3515 Trinity, Mont Belvieu, TX 77523, with Rev. Joseph Khanh officiating. Burial with military and police honors will follow at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston.

Honorary pallbearers will be his beloved friends and partners Glen Purser, A. J. Gambino, B. K. Morgan, Kenneth Sanders, Don Jenkins, Joe Guidry, and A. B. Lewis and those who preceded him in death, Larry Hooper, Gilbert Tyler, and Paul Bruce.
