Shirley June Burgess

Shirley gained her heavenly wings April 16, 2022. She was born in Alice, Texas to Rufus and Josie Szenasi, on February 16, 1945. She grew up and attended school in Holliday. In the late 1960's love and marriage brought her to Highlands, Texas where she started her family, then later moved to Old River, where she remained until her death. In her younger years, she could be found on fishing and hunting trips with family where so many memories were made with those she loved.

Shirley’s family was her greatest love and was very quick to tell you how blessed she has been not only with her children, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring from the City of Mont Belvieu, where she met and made many friendships, she continued her love of gardening and caring for her flowers and plants. She loved her friends and if you dropped in for a visit you were always greeted with a hug, a beautiful smile, and offered a cup of coffee. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. We can find comfort in knowing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior.

Preceding her in death is her son Boyd Wayne Burgess; parents Josie and Rufus Szenasi; sisters Gail Parish and Joann Rough; niece Stephanie Rough; nephew Stephen Rough; and father of her children, Charlie Burgess.

Leaving to cherish her memory is her daughter Debbie (Scott) Elliott; sons Ronnie (Nicole) Burgess, Donnie (Hope) Burgess; granddaughters Hiedi Burgess, Rachael (Nicholas) Lutz, Britt (Micah) Villarreal, Mackenzie (Sol) Herrera; grandsons Parker Burgess, Jacob Moran, Gavin Burgess, and Nicholas Burgess; great grandchildren Nevaeh, Jax, Linkin, Oakley Mae.
