Few knew my dad by his real name, John Larry Benoit. Everyone always knew him as Silver Benoit.
My father loved his friends & co-workers. They were his life. He often talked about them & their life building and constructing plants.
He wished no one, not even his enemy, harm. People didn't know how forgiving of a man he truly was.
He was a proud crane and rigging operator in his career (true brother of the hook). He worked in the oilfield as a child. At age 11, he was helping on oil rigs and then went into the United States Army. He owned his own inspection company in Odessa, Texas, in the early 70's inspecting pipelines. He traveled around the world and enjoyed different cultures after he sold his business.
My father was an Army Special Forces Airborne Medic. He was proud of his duty and served his country with pride. He wasn't proud of our government at this time but stood behind them and hoped they would make him proud again someday.
My Father taught me right from wrong and how to be a good man. He was a hard head at times but came from the old ways of working where there was no time for slouching on his jobs. He was a fair and honest man that loved and treated people with respect as long as they did what was right or was trying to learn.
Please help us rejoice his death and know he is in heaven having a cold one and relaxing with his friends.
Silver Benoit was preceded in death by his parents, Alse and Celestine Benoit.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Benoit; son, Billy Benoit and his grandson Shelby Benoit.
