

Vincent Douglas Tromblee, 84, of Baytown, TX was born August 4, 1921 in Glens Falls, NY and passed away quietly at home Sunday, August 21, 2005. He was a member of the Baytown V. F. W. post, Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge #321, and a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. While serving in the Army Medical Corps, he participated in the construction of hospitals across South America, where U.S. casualties from Africa were treated before continuing on to U.S. hospitals for further care. He was a very active member of the Republican Party and served as Chairman of the 1st Republican Precinct in Lakewood. He was an avid fisherman and loved his grandchildren.
His family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. His body will lie in state for viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7915 Bayway Dr., Baytown, TX 77520 and funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dottie Dumas officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Warren Tromblee and Joseph S. Tromblee Jr. and sister Martha Jelley. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia Tromblee of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Mary Beth Tromblee of Columbus; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnae and J. W. Nawara of Houston, Cheryl and Dennis Wells of Asuncion, Paraguay, and Karen and David LaBar of Guayaquil, Ecuador; brothers and sister-in-law, Loren and Annmarie Tromblee of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and David Tromblee of California; grandchildren and their spouses, Kathryn and Wardo James of Katy, Thomas and Jenny Nawara of Houston, Eva Nawara of Houston; Jon-Michael and Candice Wallace of San Marcos, Matthew Wallace of Huntsville, Bethany and Matthew Muzny of Columbus, GA, Megan Tromblee of Columbus, Stephen Tromblee of Columbus, Katelyn Marie LaBar of Guayaquil, Ecuador; step grandchildren, Tiffany Wells of Houston and Meredith Wells of Nederland; 4 step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church General Fund.
