Smitty was a generous man and he left a big impression on my life. His sense of humor was something I always enjoyed.  I will miss his phone calls asking how people were doing-if they had been ill or had other misfortunes, Smitty was there checking on them.  I'm sorry for our loss.

Smitty was our neighbor for 35yrs as I grew up, got married and continued our portrait studio in the house I grew up in.  From the days of my youth when Smitty has to ""chase"" us out of his shop so we wouldn't get hurt to these last few years when he always called to check on me while I was working late at the studio he was a great friend and neighbor.  Yes, his humor and love for his family and friends was always there.  He will be greatly missed by all but we are so grateful to have known him. Our condolences to all the family.

I am deeply saddened with Smitty's passing. He had a heart of gold and loved life. We shared a lot of fun at his establishment for many many years and I will never forget him. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I am so proud to be able to be called Smitty's daughter.  I could not have asked for a better person in my life.  Sometimes it was not so easy growing up with him, but I learned a long time ago to accept him for who he was, then everything fell into place. I loved him unconditionally and he the same in return.  It was either his way or the highway. I was able to make some detours and still be in the good graces of my Dad. He taught me the meaning of integrity and I tried to live by his example. I have some of the greatest memories of him and no one will ever compare. I want to thank all of his friends, my friends and family members that were with us in spirit or attended either or both the memorial service and the ""Celebration of Life"" we held for him at The Squeeze Box.  I loved talking to everyone, seeing a lot of his old friends and sharing stories, laughter and tears.  The owner's of The Squeeze Box were so gracious and kind and that will never be forgotten.  I pray that my Dad would be proud of the way that we paid tribute to his life.  He was truly a great friend to his second family and a wonderful  person to his own. His blood runs through my veins and so he lives on through me. He made me a better, stronger person and I will love him forever with all my heart and soul. See you later Daddy-o. To my favorite uncle- thanks for all the memories.

Although we were miles away from each other I thought of you often.  Daddy (the other Smitty) often told stories about you and enjoys your weekly talks.  You will be missed more than I can even express. 
 
My biggest regret is that I didn't get to see you again, you were taken so fast.

Smitty was a ""One of a kind""! He always went out of his way to help friends and even people that he barely knew. My wife and I have know Smitty for 30 years. He was big part of my life. He was always there when I needed a friend. I was told that Smitty was going to be throwing ""Pennies from Heaven and they would land Heads up"". I am in Antarctic Chile and while unpacking my bags a penny fell out and landed heads up, so I know Smitty is with me. We will miss him dearly.
