

Dickey was born on April 3, 1934 in Baytown, TX to Jeff and Polly Green. He attended school in the Baytown, Dayton and Barbers Hill areas and received his Associates Degree in Business Management at Lee College in Baytown, TX in 1983.
On December 4, 1953 he married the love of his life, Louise Green. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, owned and operated Green Brothers delivery service, Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation, General Telephone, Richmond Tank Car and retired from Conoco Pipeline Division in Mont Belvieu, TX on August 31, 1994. He enjoyed working at all these companies and made many friends thru his employment. He was a trustee at Garth Road Baptist Church, ordained as a deacon at Coady Baptist Church and served as a deacon at Victory Baptist Church where he was an active member. He also made many friends thru the years at these churches.
Dickey enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with all his friends and family but the hobby he enjoyed most was playing his guitar. He was part owner of the Baytown Family Opry along with three close friends in the early 80's. He also enjoyed playing for the elderly at various area nursing homes which he participated in until he was no longer able to play. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer, RG, & Daniel Green; and sisters, Velma Duncan and Annie Lois Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Louise Green; sons, John Green and wife Kathy, Tommy Green and wife Vera; daughter, Theresa Posey and husband Glenn; grandchildren, Jerry and Chad Green, Anna and Zac Turner and Ros, Cole and Matt Posey; one great granddaughter, Chloe; sisters, Mary Fullen and Azalee Williamson; sister-in-laws, Laura Lee Green and Deloris Green; brother-in-laws, Pat Phillips and Walter Phillips and wife Connie; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 1800 E. Archer Rd., Baytown, TX 77521 on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Danny Bezet officiating and Brother Floyd Griffis assisting. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be all his grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be the men and boys at Victory Baptist Church, Rick Eudy, John Staten, Robert Zavadil, Jim Adcock, Andy and John Maloy.
The family will like to extend special thanks to Dr. Pamela Medellin and her entire staff and all the nursing staff of 2 South and the OPTU unit at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital.
