What constitutes the measure of a man? Is it the stride he cut through his ambulations in this world, is it the benevolence or malice he applied to his interactions throughout his life, is it the carriage of his dignity upon the onset the graying periods toward the finale, or is it the all these things intertwined? With Walter Lee Wade it certainly was the intertwined volley of each defining moment and simple clear elaboration which set forth the life he would lead and the presence he would form within the figure of his person. He had his humble beginnings in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the son Stella Mae House Wade and Cicero E. Wade and was born on January 30, 1925. He was employed by Texaco in offshore oil production until his retirement in the early 80's. Being of the greatest generations Lee Wade knew what it meant to suffer and to work. He also knew what it meant to keep going, no matter what, because he had the beautiful love of his life, Arah Louise Capps Wade, his wondrous and amazing wife and his baby girl Lee Louise Mayo nee' Wade to take care and provide for. Lee was not a quiet man, when he felt something he had no trouble telling you. In other words, he was filled with passion for life and he was not scared of emotion or disagreement. This aspect of Lee Wade made him who he was and in fact defined him, after his wife and his daughter, of course…
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Mae House Wade and Cicero E. Wade; brothers, Clyde E. Wade and Kenneth R. Wade; and wife, Arah Louise Capps Wade. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lee Lou & Pi-Yi Mayo; grandsons, Ben Lee Schneider and wife Maegan Casey Schneider and Coleton Wade Mayo; great grandsons, Kaiden Nikolas and Kase Harrison Schneider; sister, Betty Smith; and sister-in-law, Ann Wade.
His family will receive friends Monday, June 28, 2010 at Navarre Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Without a doubt in the hearts, minds, and spirits of those who knew Walter Lee Wade they recognized him to be a man of character and a man not afraid to be who he was. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, for when a man of quality leaves the world the space left behind cannot be filled by anyone and we are all poorer for such a loss.
