Melinda I just learned of Wendell 's passing. I recall yall helping on Mr Barrow's boat, and memories of Mrs Barrow's recipes. Of Wendal who was like a kid building boats and a scooter for Stuart and July 4ths.  Wendell and Larry were good friends. Good friens.  Hard to come by...

Wendell was an amazing Father in law. 
My first real memory of us hanging out was when we were moving Granny Hazel into her assisted living apartment.  I was wearing a halter top and he saw my butterfly 🦋 tattoo. He told me he would give me a new butterfly tattoo, grabbed a sharpie and proceeded to draw a stick figure butterfly on my hand. 
David told him to stop flirting with his girlfriend. Wendell and I laughed and friendship started. 
My next memory was of his first meeting of Jadzia. She was 4 and we had been over for a visit and lunch. 
He told David and I that he had a bike in the attic she could use and he could even paint it pink.  He always thought of her as his. We were so blessed to have him.

Wendell was a very good friend while we were stationed together at NAS Millington TN near Memphis 1972. We were both fresh out of boot camp.  In addition to being an absolute whiz at the Avionics school we both attended he was one helluva guitar player.  We shared that music interest and hit every guitar store in Memphis at a really good time for what is now classic rock. He introduced me to the sounds of ZZTop and Billy Gibbons. On a brief long weekend run we drove his Datsun 210 (great car!) to his folks home in Baytown and he showed me the ropes about being a shrimper with a boat in the backyard on the canal. As a kid from California I didn't know beans about Texas and he shared tons of culture I was clueless about. He lent me that car so I could take a Tennessee  driving test in it, it was a huge favor. As friends go and acquaintances you meet on the trail Wendell was a 10+. Godspeed and all the best to his family in this loss. Semper Fidelis Wendell. Always your friend - Doug

Wendell and Pat were really close friends growing up. I think all the guys in that neighborhood were. He shared lots of good memories with me and I was so excited when I found out he married Melinda. I am so sorry you have to go through this Melinda and thank goodness you have family and friends.

With respect and love for Melinda, David, and all of Wendell’s family, please know that Geneva and I will very much miss Wendell as a long-time good friend, neighbor, sharer of information & ideas, and all around good man.  We’re proud to have Wendell and this family in our life.

We worked with Wendell for many years. He was a talented guy. His drawings were amusing and he could build anything. Our prayers and deepest sympathy to his family.

So sorry to hear. Wendell was always a kind and thoughtful guy. I first met him at the pond racing boats. Always cheerful and fun to be around.  A competitive spirit drove him. You could tell he was always churning through an idea  but he wasn’t one to sit on his ideas. Wendell loved to build things. His craftsmanship in his work was outstanding.  A mix of artist, engineer, and mechanical wizard!  

Not many like him. He will be sorely missed.
