

William Howard Dickerson was born on 10th day of January, 1925, in Blacksburg, Virginia to Floyd Anderson Dickerson and Nancy Elizabeth Dickerson, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2007. William Howard joined the Navy in May 1942 and served in the Pacific Campaign during WWII. He held the rank of BMIC and was discharged in May 1949. While serving at Norfork Naval Base and traveling to Blacksburg, he met his loving wife of 59 years, Minetta Charlton Dickerson. They were wed on the 10th day of April, 1948. William Howard attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) in Blacksburg, earning his BS in Chemical Engineering. He retired from Lubrizol Inc. in April of 1991 and was an active member of the Lubrizol Retiree Group. William Howard was an active member at the First Christian Church of Baytown and was elected Elder Emeritus in 1998. William Howard was a board member for YMCA and received awards for his work with the GAP Bicycle Program. He also enjoyed giving his time and energy to the Optimist Club and Kiwanis. William Howard received the Kiwanis George F. Hixon Fellow metal.
He loved his family above all else, guiding his sons through the Sea Scouts, Boy Scouts and fishing. He would call his children home by blowing the Navy Boatsman Mate whistle.
He is survived by: Brother Elmer Holdway and wife Phyllis of Roanoke, Virginia. His children are Floyd Dickerson and wife Sharron of the Woodlands, Texas, Nancy Marshall and husband John of Mountain Home, Idaho, Nathan Dickerson and wife Kathleen of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and John Dickerson and wife Gina of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren are Sarah Hervert, John Hervert, Scott Dickerson, Geoffrey Dickerson, Alexandra Dickerson, Victor Dickerson, Kathryn Dickerson, Austin Dickerson, Colin Dickerson, Katie and Kelly Dickerson. Nephews Holles and Jim Charlton of Christiansburg, Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Navarre Funeral Home. Grave side service will be private. A memorial service will be held on at 2:00 P. M. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at First Christian Church, 201 Forrest Avenue in Baytown, Texas.
