Betty Jo Matkin

Funeral services for Betty J Matkin of Winnie, Texas will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Betty was born January 26, 1929 in Paris, Texas to Johnny and Hattie Lawhon and was escorted through the Gates of Heaven by her loving husband, Robert Matkin September 22, 2016. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and foster grandmother and will greatly be missed. She loved cooking, and quilting but her greatest love was her family and foster grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; son, Robert Earl Matkin; grandson, Robert Donald Matkin, Brother, Steve Lawhon, sisters, Mary Callahan, Bobbie Doyle and Lillian Fear. Betty has left to treasure all of her many wonderful memories, her son, Timothy Matkin and wife Deana, daughter, Jozette Helm, daughter-in-law ,Sandra Matkin; brother, Gearl Lawhon and wife Betty; 9 grandchildren, Laci, Brian, Michael, Mandi, Chad, Meagan, Cody, Brandon and Cade and 18 great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The family of Betty would like to extend words of gratitude to Dr. Timothy Colgan and Greg Gilbreath for the unfailing devotion and care they have given to Betty over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association.
