She was a longtime resident of Vidor, Texas. She was a beloved mother to everyone and made anyone feel like family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, harassing the nursing home staff, and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Abner Walter Rutledge and her son, Abner Walter Rutledge Jr. She is also preceded in death by her parents and 8 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son David Rutledge, of Vidor, her daughter Becky Rutledge Bridges and her husband Joe Bridges, of Vidor, and her brother Guy Ward of Beaumont. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Karrie Wagner & her husband Rick, Marvin Gallier, Kim Cheatwood, Abner W. Rutledge III, Winfred Goodman Jr. and & his wife Stephannie, Kelly Springs & her husband Chris, Athena Shettlesworth & her husband Ronnie, David Rutledge Jr., and Emily Rayon & her husband Stephen and 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Sunday, March 12, 2023 followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Ward, Christopher Austen Springs, Nick Wagner, Dylan Rutledge, Benny Springs, and Shannon Knight.
