Eugenia "Genie" (Kirby) Robertson

Eugenia "Genie" (Kirby) Robertson, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Conroe, Texas. Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, July 19th at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, July 18th.

Mrs. Robertson was born on January 27, 1930 in DeQuincy, Louisiana. She was a lover of the outdoors as a young girl and could often be found climbing trees and riding horses with her dear cousin Lois Alston. In fact, her husband Eugene caught his first glimpse of her while on a runaway horse with her father chasing after them. She moved to Beaumont, Texas when she was 15 years old and graduated from Beaumont High School.

She married Eugene W. Robertson in Arlington, Virginia while he was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They resided in the Beaumont area for 65 years, where they were members of North End Baptist Church. Mrs. Robertson enjoyed her time working closely with students as a math aide at Martin Elementary. She was an excellent seamstress and made all of the clothes for her two daughters, including their prom dresses. Later in life, she took an interest in oil painting, which her family treasures displaying in their homes now.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Eula Kirby Cooper and her beloved husband of 65 years, Eugene W. Robertson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Wanda Venza of Conroe, Texas and Debby Shackelford and husband Donald of Kountze, Texas; three grandchildren, Jason Shackelford, Juliana Crawford and husband Judson, and Marco Venza and wife Michelle; five great-grandchildren, Trevor Shackelford, Evan Venza, Natalie Venza, Eden Crawford, Cora Crawford, and Ivy Crawford.
