Evon Rutledge, 97, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on December 27, 1927, in Many, Louisiana, to William Archie Davenport and Odie Mae Neuman.
Evon was a devoted wife and mother, and her life was centered around her family. She was a loving housewife to her late husband, Hardie Rutledge. As the glue that held the family together, Evon’s unwavering love and dedication were the foundation of the strong family bonds she cherished. She is now reunited with her beloved Hardie, and may they dance in the sky together forever.
Evon is preceded in death by her parents, William Archie Davenport and Odie Mae Neuman, and husband Hardie Rutledge.
She is survived by her son, Gary Rutledge and wife Cathryn of Lumberton, TX; daughters Carolyn Fowler and her husband Jerry of Silsbee, TX, and Belinda Hyatt of Silsbee, TX. She will be dearly missed by her 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Evon’s love, strength, and devotion will be forever remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of family, love, and togetherness that will endure for generations to come.
