

Helen Vernette Maurer, age 86, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Silsbee, TX. Services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at North End Baptist Church in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Maurer was born in Carriere, Mississippi on August 31, 1927. She was a bookkeeper for her son at Maurer’s Lawn Mower Shop. Helen lived in north Texas for many years and worked as a buyer for Gibson’s Discount Stores and later moved into the accounting department. She was also the nursery director at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, TX. She moved to the Lumberton area in 1985 and became a member of North End Baptist Church. She enjoyed so many things, but most of all she enjoyed her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Myrtle Carroll, six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jacob Maurer of Lumberton, TX. One son, Michael Ray Maurer and his wife Frances of Beaumont, TX. Three daughters, Paulette Marie Anthon of Alvarado, TX, Vernette Eve Goza of Lewisville, TX and Carol Ann Cawley and her husband Chris of Newton-le-Willows, United Kingdom. One sister, Carol Mable Zarechki of Albuquerque, NM. Nineteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and twenty great great grandchildren.
