James L. Savant Sr.

James Louis Savant, Sr., 75, of Beaumont, died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He served as an altar boy in the Catholic Church throughout his youth and graduated from Central Catholic High School. James proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. After returning from service, he married his long-time love Mary A. Bourque on February 15, 1969. A longtime resident of Beaumont, James was a retired operator from Motiva after many faithful years of service. James was member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Beaumont. James enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, watching his favorite baseball team The Houston Astros play and his favorite football team The New Orleans Saints play. He also enjoyed cooking, and loved to Bar-B-Que. He was famous for baking sweet potato pies for all family occasions. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. James was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Alice Savant, parents, Louis Bernard and Emedia LuLue Savant. James is survived by his son James Savant, Jr and his wife Christina of Beaumont, daughters, Lisa Davis and her husband Robert of Lumberton, and Deborah Savant-Heartfield of Beaumont. James is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Joseph Savant Davis, Gwydion Davis, Elrick Davis, Monica Thompson, Alexis Shue, and Leighton Savant, and his 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in-law whom he loved dearly. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.See more See Less
