Jay Boyd Allen, Jr., a man of extraordinary heart, peacefully passed away on November 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Jay Boyd Allen, Sr. and Irene Odom Allen on January 4, 1929, in Beaumont, Texas, Jay's life was marked by love, service, and an appreciation for simple joys.
Enlisting in the Merchant Marines at 16 during World War II, J.B.'s early commitment to service reflected his unwavering patriotism, a trait that defined his life. He married his childhood sweetheart, Jennie Florine Burnett Allen on Valentine's Day 1947 and together, they built a life rooted in faith and family. J.B. was a member of Beaumont Bible Church since 2010.
Retired as an Oilfield Drilling Supervisor from Cormier Well Service, J.B found joy in welding, tinkering, and cherished pastimes like antique cars and camping. A devoted father and grandfather, his family was his greatest treasure. J.B.'s generosity extended beyond kin; he welcomed strangers into his home, turning them into friends with ease. His love for dancing and old country music added a lively rhythm to his days.
J.B was preceded in death by his wife Jennie; his sons Richard John Allen, and R.J. Allen; his son-in-law Craig Litchfield; his parents Irene and Jay Allen, Sr.; and his sisters, Elsie Hodges and Louise Denicourt.
J.B. is survived by his daughter Sharon Litchfield of Beaumont, Texas; his son Jay Boyd Allen III (Sandra) of Woodville, TX; his daughter Patricia Allen Richard (Byron) of Vidor, TX; his daughter-in-law Brenda Allen of Lumberton, TX; and his brothers, J.W. Allen (Barbara) of Sour Lake, TX and Nelson Allen (Helen) of Beaumont, TX, and his loving and faithful dog, Coco. His legacy will continue through his 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
A visitation for J.B. will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, followed by a Celebration of J.B.'s Life at 2:00 PM that will be officiated by Mark Land of Beaumont Bible Church.
J.B. will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Garden of Prayer.
