Judy Moore Morton, 84, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. She was born on December 13, 1940, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Charles Edwin Emmons and Martha Moore Emmons. She was lovingly raised by Charles Emmons and Eileen Emmons following her mother's untimely death.
Survivors include son, Randy Morton of Beaumont, Texas; daughters Alisa Raumaker and husband, Ronnie, of Lumberton, Texas, and Brandi Wasser of Dickinson, Texas; brothers, Gene Emmons of Longmont, Colorado, and Kelly Emmons and wife, Bonnie, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; sisters, Patty White and husband, David, and Joni Courtney and husband, David, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; grandchildren, Katelynn Raumaker, Reece Raumaker and Abigail Wasser, and many nieces and nephews and family too numerous to name. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Morton; parents, Charles E. Emmons, Martha E. Emmons, Eileen Emmons; and brothers Kim Emmons and Kerry Emmons.
She attended Lawrenceville High School in Lawrenceville, Illinois, graduating in 1958. She married her beloved Henry in 1961. She attended Hermann Hospital School of Nursing in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1961 with her R.N. licensure. One of her most treasured accomplishments was mentoring with Dr. Michael DeBakey at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, as a cardiovascular nurse specialist.
She then went to work for many different hospitals in Houston, Texas, before relocating to Beaumont, Texas, with her longest tenure at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Cardiac Rehabilitation as the Manager of Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation. She retired in 2005 from Christus and immediately began indulging in her many talents and hobbies that carried her through the rest of her life.
Her number one activity was being "Grammy" to all her grandchildren. She was actively involved in Sweet Adelines and Barbershop Harmony. She loved gospel music. She loved traveling with her dear friends all over the world. Along with Henry, she loved scuba diving, boating, motorcycling and taking road trips in the Corvette.
She had a zest for life and never missed an opportunity to explore new things. She lived her life with kindness, helping others and expecting nothing in return. She loved her family unconditionally. She had a love of her Country and God. Her life was shattered on September 26, 2024, when the love of her life, Henry, passed suddenly. She never recovered from the loss and truly died of a broken heart. We take comfort knowing they are together again in the presence of the Lord. We miss them both beyond words.
Until we see you again, Mom, Grammy, rest in peace. John 14:3: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Cremation arrangements are entrusted with Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Memorial Graveside services will be held at the Houston VA Cemetery with a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
