Katherine Carole Barnes Paredez- was born January 28, 1962, in Beaumont, Texas to Robert Edward Barnes and Bette Carole Abell. Katherine’s older sister Lynda Keith Barnes and she loved to visit their maternal grandparents’ home where they would learn how to cook and sew. Katherine loved riding her black and white pinto horse, listening to her mother read her favorite stories, and swimming at the Beaumont Country Club pool. Katherine graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School. She then went on to Texas A&M University where she majored in computer science and Lamar University majoring in Biology.
Katherine Carole Barnes Paredez – met the love of her life, Jude Jay Paredez while attending Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School at the tender age of 15. There they would meet at the library and read next to each other, spend time together at the movies and attend football games and went to Senior Prom together. After high school Katherine and Jude agreed their relationship would be a friendship, and she went on to become an Aggie (Texas A&M) where she loved coding and all things computers. Katherine came home to continue her studies at Lamar University and shortly thereafter popped up at Jude’s home and asked to move in with him.
Katherine Carole Barnes Paredez- Jude had purchased property on Fonville and his dream girl had just asked him to move in with him. Of course, he said yes, and they started their married life there on April 27, 1988. Together their love grew while they went bowling, went to the movies, and both attended Lamar University. In September of ‘94, a baby girl was born, Miss Bette came into the world, and she was soon joined by a son named Charles in September of ‘95. Their youngest girl Jessica was born in October of ‘96 and the Paredez family was complete.
Katherine Carole Barnes Paredez - While raising their children, they purchased first a house from her Grandfather Robert. Soon after, they purchased land on the edge of Beaumont where the children loved to forage for plants to make tea with, garden with Jude, and play in the forest. Katherine was a Foodie; she loved to go out to restaurants to enjoy different types of food and try recipes from her many cookbooks. Her passion was Art; she often said that Art helped her slow down and appreciate every moment. Art was worth her putting time into. Katherine also loved to go places and enjoy herself, if Jude wanted to stay home it was okay, but she was going. Mostly Katherine loved her children and was overjoyed when her granddaughter Eva was born in 2015, and grandson Josiah was born in 2024 and felt blessed to have good family and friends to love as much as they loved her. She was a pure soul and loved by everyone she encountered.
Katherine Carole Barnes Paredez – age 63, of Beaumont, TX, died Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading, writing, watching K dramas, and especially loved horses.
Katherine is survived by her loving husband, Jude Jay Paredez, of Beaumont, her son, Charles Robert Paredez, of Evadale, her daughters, Bette Eva Haynes and her husband Adrian of Baytown, and Jessica Maria Taylor and her husband Isaiah of College Station. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Eva Esther Paredez and her mother Shannon Castañeda Barbosa, of Beaumont, and her grandson, Josiah John Haynes, of Baytown.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Edward Barnes; her mother, Bette Carole Abell; and her sister, Lynda Keith Barnes and brother-in-law Greg Ray as well as brother-in-law John Christopher Paredez and sister-in-law Brenda Paredez.
