Mary moved to the Beaumont area with her family when she was young. She graduated from French High School and married her high school sweetheart, Clifton Lewis Jenkins in 1953. Mary was a homemaker who raised and cared for their 3 children. Mary lived for her family and loved them dearly.
Mary was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, as well as putting together jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed being outdoors hunting and skiing. She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church Deweyville.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Bobbie Broussard and Winfred Colwell; her son Preston Lewis Jenkins and his wife Kay Smith, her son Dudley Wayne Jenkins and his wife Theresa Jenkins, and her daughter Patti Jane Jenkins. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandson Darrel Wayne Jenkins and his wife Jessica Jenkins, her grandson Casey Lewis Jenkins, and great-grandchildren Emma Jane Jenkins, Keeleigh Jenkins, Dean Paul Jenkins, and Brynlei Jenkins.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Charlie Powell and Maggie (Jones) Powell; siblings Charles Ellis Powell, Dorcas Meche, Ruby Johnson, James Leamon Powell, James Till Powell, Clyde Powell, and grandson Preston Keith Jenkins.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Panel Garden at 2:00 PM, with Mary's Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00 PM.
