

Mike was involved with Boy Scouts of America and earned his Eagle Scout Award. Later he continued to help others earn their scout achievements. Mike went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Recreational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. He worked in serving the community through non-profit organizations and church. Mike enjoyed meeting new people through sales and never met a stranger he didn’t talk to. Above all, his favorite thing was spending time with his family, grandkids, and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra L. McCracken; sons, Charles McCracken and his wife, Lesley and Gray McCracken and his wife, Katie; step-daughter, Kelly Blake and her husband, Jamie; step-sons, Andrew Marcus and his wife, Sarah and David Marcus and his wife, Lana; grandchildren, Charles Dean McCracken, Lily McCracken, and Becka Marcus; father, Colonel David Lawrence McCracken, Jr. USAF (Retired); sister, Candice Powers; brother, David Lawrence McCracken III and his wife, Martha; and numerous nieces, nephews; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by Charlie and Gray’s mother, Catherine McCracken and his mother, Frances McCracken.
He was a devoted husband, father, Peepaw, and friend. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all the love and support from family and friends. John 3:16
A memorial gathering for Mr. McCracken will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at University United Methodist Church, 5084 Dezavala Road, San Antonio, under the direction of Porter-Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio.
There will be a memorial service for Mr. McCracken at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with a family innichment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
