Orpha Davis Barclay

Orpha Davis Barclay, age 90, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 24, 2015 in Beaumont, Texas.Orpha was born in Merryville, Louisiana on July 5, 1924. She graduated Beaumont High School and married her husband W.D. Barclay on January 16, 1942. She worked for many years at the Coca Cola plant and then later retired from BISD as a devoted secretary in Health Services. She loved her gardening, “piddling” in her yard and feeding her precious deer with corn then banging her antique coffee cans, calling them for dinner. She loved watching and spoiling her birds in her backyard.

Orpha is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, W.D. Barclay and parents, Orie Miles Davis and Ollie Mae Wingate Davis.

Survivors include her two daughters, Patty Ergenbright and her husband Robert Lee of Sugarland, TX and Marie Mincks and her husband Rick of Sour Lake, TX and son, Carey Barclay and his wife Terri of Beaumont, TX. Seven grandchildren; Amanda Mincks Dale and husband Justin of Sour Lake, TX, Matthew Mincks and his wife Kandi of Kountze, TX, Clayton Ergenbright of Sugarland, TX, Austin Ergenbright and his fiancée, Caley Dawson of Houston, TX, Lindsay Robins and her husband David of Katy, TX, Krista Goetz and her husband Austin of Orangefield, TX and Amanda Heinen and her husband Shane of Lake Charles, LA. One niece, Ginger Barclay Cope of Rowlette, TX and a lifelong friend, Mrs. Sarah Stark. As well as three great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dorcas Wilson, Claire Tiemann, Sondra Horton and Tonette Picou for all of their love and compassion shown to their Mother.
