

Shawnee lived her life with a vibrant spirit and a heart full of joy. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures like spending time on her phone watching and creating TikToks, playing games, and talking for hours with those she loved. She had a deep love for music and dancing; lighting up any room with her energy and bright smile. Shawnee also enjoyed going to carnivals and fairs, where she could soak in the excitement and laughter.
She treasured special moments with her family, especially when her sisters would play with and braid her hair. Those were times filled with laughter, comfort, and love. Shawnee had a fondness for her favorite treats, including a good frozen strawberry margarita, pizza, and Nerds candy. She enjoyed relaxing with some of her favorite TV shows, including The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Pit Bulls & Parolees. A particularly special memory for her was a trip to New Orleans, where she had the unforgettable experience of meeting and interacting with the dogs from one of her favorite shows.
Shawnee’s smile was truly unforgettable. It was bright, warm, and contagious. She and that beautiful smile had a way of instantly lifting the spirits of everyone around her. Whether you knew her for a lifetime or only a brief moment, Shawnee left a lasting impression on every person she met and life she touched. She had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued, and her presence brought light and comfort to so many.
She was strong-willed and resilient, facing and overcoming many challenges and battles throughout her life with courage and determination. Through it all, her love for her family and friends never wavered. She held those closest to her in the highest place in her heart, and that love will continue to live on in the memories she leaves behind.
Shawnee was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Edward “Ed” Surguy Sr. and Dorsey Waybright; her nephew, Rowan McDonald; and her niece, Maya McDonald.
She is survived by her beloved parents, Ed and Jackie Surguy; her grandmothers, Shirley Surguy and Judy Waybright; her siblings, Michael “Mikey” Waybright and his partner Jasmine Jones, Crystal Surguy and her husband Joshua, Dustin Moran, Cheyenne Surguy and her husband William “Billy” McDonald, and Lakota Surguy; her nieces and nephews, Addisyn Waybright Thorne and her husband Tristan, Katie, Jordan, Alex, Ethan, and Lacey Surguy, Ariah Moran, and Jaxson McDonald; her great-niece, Remi Thorne; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends.
Shawnee will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her light, her laughter, her love, and the memory of that bright and beautiful smile will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
Cremation services will be held under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
