Gene was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Shirley, and together they raised their family. Gene was a faithful man of God and was a longtime member of South Park Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman and a jack of all trades, but above all else he was a family man, completely devoted to his wife and children. Among his many hobbies, Gene loved to "rescue" animals. Any stray dog spotted wandering the neighborhood was immediately brought inside and fed until fat. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting, but in his later days, he preferred to carry bags of corn in his truck to feed the deer.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Florence Alexander, his sisters Ruby Corder and Audrey Cox, his infant great-grandchild, and his loving wife Shirley Alexander.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children Tommy Alexander and his wife Denice, Alan Alexander, Tina Witzleben and her husband Larry, and Barbara Cummings; his grandchildren Ryan Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Joy Morgan and her husband Brian, Jeffrey Witzleben, Christopher Witzleben and his wife Whitney, Amanda Glaesmann and her husband Eric. Gene's memory will also be carried on through his 8 great-grandchildren as well as by all those who knew and loved him.
