Dean was born August 15, 1949 in Portland, Oregon. He passed away March 13, 2020, in Portland. He was 70.
He graduated from elementary school at St. Matthew Catholic School in Hillsboro, and studied at Mt. Angel Seminary for 2 years before graduating from Jesuit High School in 1967.
Excelling in computers and technology, Dean earned a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Oregon State University.
He worked as an engineer at Wacker Siltronic for 18 years, and later on projects for Intel, Hewlett Packard and Spartek.
Dean was a gifted photographer and loved the outdoors, hiking, camping and skiing.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, creative and generous nature and his amazing ability with technology.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gary, sister Sandra and parents Ernie and Loretta (Krieger) LaVoie.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Findlay) LaVoie, brothers Marvin (Karen), John “Jack”, sister Susan and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Dean's life will be held at a later date.
