March 4, 1978 – March 15, 2026
George Alexander Mims, 48, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on March 15, 2026. Born on March 4, 1978, in Portland, Oregon, George lived a life marked by curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the people and places he loved.
Though he spent time in many different cities throughout his life, George was always drawn to the warmth of Southern California, where he found joy in the sunshine and the simple pleasure of putting his toes in the sand.
George graduated from Jesuit High School in Portland, an experience he was deeply grateful for and one that helped shape his path forward. He went on to attend Oregon State University before transferring to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he discovered his passion for film, a pursuit that became a meaningful part of his life.
George was a man of many talents. He could fix just about anything, had a deep love for the film industry, a musician, a skilled marksman, and enjoyed sunny days on the golf course. Incredibly intelligent, he seemed to know something about everything and approached life with both confidence and curiosity. More than anything, George was kind. He cared deeply for his people and had a way of making everything better simply by being there.
He built a successful career as a Senior Project Manager at Kennedy Restoration, where his work ethic, leadership, and expertise were deeply valued.
George is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Bill Mims; his uncles, Jim and Steve Huserik; his stepsisters, Abby Mims McConnell and Kari Stradley; his nephew, Jamie McConnell; and his beloved Gracie.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Claremont Golf Club. 15800 NW Country Club Road, Portland, OR 97229.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his many talents, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew and loved him.
