To our beloved dad, grandpa, and husband, you lived a great life. With a smile and twinkling
eyes, family was your focus.
You were born, the first of two children to Jerry Faltys and Mary Grotelueschen on the family
farm near Schuyler, Nebraska.
Here’s what you enjoyed in life. You played baseball and football at Schuyler High School
where you graduated in 1943. According to your sister, Audrey, while holding down a solid “C”
average, you were the most popular boy in school. At 18, you proudly enlisted in the Navy and
served with the Navy Seabees in the Pacific Fleet in World War II.
After the war, you met Joyce Moller on a blind date and soon after eloped on September
30, 1946. You loved everything Nebraska but farming was not one of them. So, in 1956, with
kids in tow, you and Mom ventured west to Oregon where you settled in Beaverton. You
became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for over 20 years. You enjoyed your walking
route where you made lasting friends with many patrons.
However, one of your greatest joys was when your four children, Randy Faltys, Jan Baxter
(Don), Debby Bellis (Jeff), and Dede Mastrud (Brad) “delivered” your 9 grandsons and 2
granddaughters. Their activities and sporting events filled your days.
You enjoyed growing vegetables, traveling, volunteering, country western music, Mom’s
cooking, and always a beer.
We will miss your love, devotion and corny jokes.
Love, Mom, Randy, Jan, Debby, Dede, Mike, Jeremy, Kris, Jeff, Jaydee, Ryan, Tyler, Kyle,
Jeron, Kellen and Makenzie.
Funeral services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, at a private family gathering.
