Judith Linn McGlothlan was born on August 25, 1952 in Salem, Oregon to Mahlon and Martha McCourry. When she was young, the McCourrys relocated to Southern California for Mahlon’s work as a teacher. Judi graduated from Western High School in Buena Park in 1970. After that she attended Seattle Pacific University in Seattle. During her time at SPU working on a bachelors degree in Chemistry, she met and fell in love with Kirk McGlothlan. Shortly after graduation in 1974 Kirk and Judi were married at Melodyland Christian Center in Judi’s beloved Southern California.
They lived in Corvallis while Kirk attended Oregon State University to complete his Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry. They moved to San Jose, California where they welcomed their first son, Mark Joel, in 1979. In 1980, Kirk got a job with Tektronix and they moved to Beaverton, Oregon. In 1981, they welcomed their second son, John Douglas.
For the next two decades, Judi’s love was raising her boys and keeping a home. Mark and John made her a grandma six times over between 2006 and 2011 and it was one of the greatest joys of her life. When Kirk retired from Xerox in 2014, they travelled to England and France to celebrate an amazing career and their 40th wedding anniversary (and also, cross “Follow the Tour de France” off their bucket list). Over the next almost 5 years, they traveled to Singapore, Indonesia, Cuba, Israel and the Holy Land, Haiti and Dominican Republic. In addition to many international excursions, they took many road trips around the US. They felt the Lord calling them to pray in the capitals of all fifty states. Which they concluded in September of 2018.
Judi enjoyed many hobbies and past times but none more than being in nature, birdwatching, waterfall hunting, spending time with the Lord (Judi took her calling of intercessory prayer very seriously) and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Kirk, her mother, Martha McCourry, her sons Mark (wife, Mary) and John (wife, Charity) and her six amazing grandchildren: Bailey (12), John (11), Lewis (10), Ethan (10), Kelsey (7) and Rowan (7).
