Thanks Dick for occasionally sharing a table with me at Dotties. Thanks for being an email friend for many years.

I have been a neighbor to Dick and Frankie for a number of years.  Dick was always a kind and generous neighbor.Dick shared his crop of tomatoes with me on many occasions.

His neighbors will miss him..

I would like to offer my condolences.  Loyle was always very sweet, understanding, and kindhearted.  He will definitely be missed.

Dick, Dad, Grandpa, (these names were all interchangeable but I mostly used Dick), I have the fondest of memories of spending time with you, watching the Seahawks, Mariners, Ducks and Beaver games - rooting for the team, yelling at the refs on questionable calls. Most recently we enjoyed watching the Blazers make it into the second round of the NBA Playoffs - you were an avid Blazers fan. You were always there to discuss the questions that life brings, that meant a lot to me. You and Frankie always made me feel like part of the family, right from the start. I remember back to the early days when I came over to watch a Blazers game down in your Man Cave, I was unaware of the seating arrangements and sat in your chair, (I think you were off getting beverages), Muffin proceeded to jump up in my lap and settle down, when you arrived you looked down and said something like "Oh" and muffing looked up at me and proceeded to do her circular frenzied dance which ended up spilling her onto the floor below, it was then that I realized I must be sitting in the wrong chair, of course you insisted that I stay put but I had already moved. You were a father figure, a mentor and a friend to me. I really enjoyed the Hawaii trip you took with us, I played my best golf during that trip. I never hesitated to call you, even if it was just to say GO BLAZERS after a great win, you were always glad to hear what I had to say, even if I was griping about my boss. You taught my son and I golf etiquette and encouraged that we play by the rules, within reason of course, we were allowed to take a mulligan once in a while. You led by example, you showed us how to be gentlemen and show respect for people, also how to stand up for what we believe in. I remember bringing lunch over one day, which I enjoyed doing often, you were watching a political show and were all wound up about these guy's not know what they were talking about, we had a big laugh about that and turned off the television and had a nice lunch. You were fiercely independent, you wanted to do things your way right to the end, when conversation led to the discussion of a possible move to assisted living, your reply would be a reassuring “I will think about it”, but that is as far as it would go. I think part of what kept you moving so well was keeping that condo spotless and all of your financial obligations in order. I remember when we would gather at your place for a dinner, we would all finish and start on the dishes, you would say, “just leave those, I will get them later”, but then we would find you washing them a few minutes later while we were watching the game. You would not leave the house without a hat, I remember back to our Hawaii trip where you planned on finding a hat there, we started out on day 1 looking for a hat, I think you went through 3 different hats during that trip, we were caught out in a brief rainstorm with one of them, it turned your forehead yellow. I cherish the time we had together, I will miss you greatly, your friend, son-in-law, Scot Brabham
